Jackson was particularly magnificent. He finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and five steals. But that isn’t what sent the stat types into a paroxysm of expectation as the game evolved. It was the possibility — the very real possibility — that Jackson might become the first player ever to get five blocks, five steals and five 3-pointers in a single game.

Jackson ultimately fell just one block and one 3-pointer short.

Was he aware of the historic chase?

“No,” he said. “I don’t even know what you just said.”

When it was explained to Jackson again — that nobody has ever had a game with that collection of stats — he concluded, “And nobody has ever done that, still.”
