Four post-trade-deadline questions
Mike Shearer, Basketball Poetry

Questions remain. The floor will get small when Jonathan Kuminga returns; we still don’t know how a Kuminga/Butler/Green lineup will work with or without a center, although the Warriors definitely seem invested in making stretch seven-footer Quinten Post a thing — the rookie big went 7-for-11 from deep in his 35 minutes. And the Warriors haven’t seen a good defensive team yet.

If nothing else, Golden State’s players and coaches seem to be having fun again. Curry was taking — and making — ridiculous heat checks, Draymond Green was laughing, and Steve Kerr even cracked a smile. No regrets here.

It should come as no surprise that Taj has missed zero games in Charlotte this season due to injury. But in the past, when he has encountered other obstacles and challenges throughout his career, he has braved every storm by keeping a positive mindset through it all. “I think when you play in this league you’re going to get knocked down a lot, but you’ve got to stay composed,” he said. “You’ve got to just keep a smile on your face, continue to keep listening.

Danny Emerman, The Mercury News

Over and over again before Butler arrived, Curry would pass the ball out of a double team, but his teammates would blow a 4-on-3 opportunity. Defenses noticed and became even more brazen, face-guarding him the length of the court and throwing even more help defenders his way.

They can’t be so cavalier when Curry’s on the floor with Butler. The six-time All-Star will pick them apart.

Even as Butler is admittedly out of game shape and hasn’t had a practice session to learn Golden State’s plays, he has scored 45 points in two games. He has gotten to the line for 28 foul shots, which has ripple effects in itself.
